Engineering education is constantly adapting to changes in society and the various sectors that comprise it. Universities not only have to provide students with a high level of academic and technical knowledge, but also have to provide students with competences and skills to face the changing challenges of the modern world, the incorporation of new technologies, forms of production and organization in the productive and service sector in each country and equally in the global context. In this scenario, the transfer of knowledge and technology between the university and the vocational educational and training system with the productive and service sector plays a fundamental role in ensuring the correct integration of students into the world of work.
The Special Session "Knowledge and Technology Transfer between University and Industry" (KaTT) within the ICL 2021 Conference, September 2021, Dresden, Germany, aims to cover all aspects related to experiences of the transfer of knowledge and technology between the university and vocational educational and training (VET) systems from different countries with the productive and service sector. The aim of this special session is to present research projects, curricular adaptations, teachers' and students' experiences in the university and vocational education context, applications of didactic frameworks, experiences of teachers and students in working with the productive and service sector (locally and also in international case experiences), evaluation of implementations, development of products and services in the framework of academic activities, proposals for curriculum adaptations promoting KaTT, evaluations of examples of such educational experiences among others. The objective is to bring together various stakeholders to exchange ideas and experiences and to foster networking between academia and industry
